The most basic unit of time within the BrowserQuests™ RPG is the "round" which is equivalent to a minute. Accordingly, the following units of time are used within the game:
- Hour - 60 rounds (or minutes) comprises an hour
- Time of Day - Every few hours throughout the day are referred to in familiar ways:
- Wee Morn (1-4 AM) - Reference to the early morning hours before there is any sunlight
- Sunrise (5-7 AM) - The few hours just before and after sunrise
- Morning (8-11 AM) - The morning hours well after sunrise but before noon (midday)
- Noon (12-2 PM) - The time of day when the sun is highest in the sky
- Afternoon (3-5 PM) - The latter hours of sunlight before the sun begins to set in the western sky
- Sunset (6-8 PM) - The few hours just before and after sunset
- Evening (9-11 PM - Collection of hours after sunset (but when most are still awake)
- Late Eve (around midnight) - A brief period after the day is done but the new day has yet begun
- Day - A single day lasts exactly 24 hours (or 1440 minutes/rounds)
- Season - Collections of 90 days are referred to as seasons (again, in a familiar way):
- Winter - The time of cold and snow within the world's northern hemisphere
- Spring - A time of warming temperatures, renewal and regrowth
- Summer - The time of sunshine, warmth and bounty
- Fall - A time of reaping, falling temperatures and concern for the coming winter
- Year - Each year within the game lasts 360 days. New players begin their adventures in the summer of the year 993.
